How to Choose Clothing Storage Racks to Make Storage Management More Efficient?

Table of Content [Hide]

In the warehouse management of a garment factory, choosing the right shelving system is crucial for improving space utilization, optimizing workflows, and ensuring the safety of goods. Facing the unique storage requirements of the garment industry, such as diverse styles, strong seasonality, and fast inventory turnover, the following types of shelves are ideal choices for achieving efficient warehouse management in garment factories due to their outstanding advantages.

    Medium Duty Shelves

    • Wide range of applications: Medium duty shelves are suitable for storing various garment finished products, semi-finished products, and accessories, such as clothes, shoes, and hats. With moderate load capacity (usually between150kg-500kg per tier), they can meet the storage requirements of most garment products.

    • Flexible adjustment: The tier spacing can be adjusted, making it easy to quickly adjust according to the size of garment packaging and seasonal inventory changes, maximizing space utilization. At the same time, the open design facilitates air circulation, reducing the risk of moisture and mildew.

    • Visual management: The tiered design makes goods visible at a glance, making it easy for staff to quickly locate and pick items, improving work efficiency.

    Mezzanine Rackings

    • Utilization of vertical space: Mezzanine rackings create second or third-level platforms within the warehouse, extending the storage space upwards. This is especially suitable for garment warehouses with limited space but high ceilings.

    • Classified storage: The upper platform can store seasonal garments or slower-turning inventory, while the lower platform is used for hot-selling items or commonly used accessories, achieving classification and zoned management.

    • Integrated office space: Some mezzanine rackings can be designed to include office, quality inspection, and other functional areas, realizing the integration of storage and office, improving space utilization and work efficiency.

    Stack Racks

    Adaptability to Diverse Products

Garment warehouses typically contain various items of clothing, footwear, accessories of different shapes, and sizes. Stack racks (e.g., adjustable racks, fabric racks) can be customized according to the characteristics of the items, equipped with hanging rods, dividers, fabric clamps, etc., to meet different types of garment storage needs.

    Seasonal Inventory Management

The garment industry's inventory turnover is fast and highly seasonal. Stack racks facilitate rapid adjustment of storage layout based on sales cycles, and can be folded or stacked when vacant, saving space and facilitating centralized management of off-season inventory.

    Vertical Storage

Stack racks can be stacked in multiple layers (usually3-4 layers), forming a shelf-like vertical storage structure, effectively utilizing the warehouse's vertical space. This is particularly suitable for warehouses with high ceilings, improving storage capacity per unit area.

Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)

    • Intelligent management: Combining automated retrieval equipment (e.g., stackers) and warehouse management systems (WMS), it enables automated storage, picking, and inventory counting of garments, significantly improving operational efficiency and reducing human error.

    • Effective space utilization: Shelf heights can reach tens of meters with narrower aisles, greatly enhancing the usage rate of vertical storage space.

    • Suitable for large-scale storage: Ideal for large garment enterprises, especially for warehouses handling high e-commerce business volumes, numerous SKUs, and fast inventory turnover, effectively handling the demand for high-volume order processing.

When a garment factory is choosing storage shelves, it should consider its own storage needs, warehouse conditions, business scale and future development plans comprehensively. Factors such as shelf applicability, flexibility, space utilization, operational efficiency, and degree of intelligence should be scientifically assessed to configure medium duty shelves, mezzanine rackings, stack racks, or automated storage systems to build an efficient, flexible, and highly adaptive warehouse management system.

This will help the enterprise to improve logistics efficiency, reduce operational costs, and gain a competitive edge in the market.
